Argonaut-XR
The Argonaut-XR is a 10 cell current meter for precise measurement of water velocity, intended for mounting on the bottom of a river or channel. The XR offers exceptional value for current profiling applications and its small size, rugged build quality, and flexible system architecture make it the suitable for both real-time operation and autonomous deployments.
SonTek's exclusive Multi-Cell feature allows you to pre-program 10 fixed velocity cells wherever you want, then an 11th dynamic cell can be set to automatically change its position as the water level changes.
The XR differs from other current meters because the sampling volume size and location are adjustable. You can program the size and vertical extent of the volume, which can extend out as far as 22m from the transducer head. A special automatic mode can automatically adjust the measurement volume for changing water level.
The basic autonomous system includes batteries, internal recorder, compass/tilt sensor, pressure and temperature sensors. Never requiring calibration, the Argonaut-XR's velocity accuracy is unaffected by biologic growth. Options for water level measurement, water quality, telemetry, waves, and flow calculation extend the capability of the Argonaut-XR current meter to a wide variety of applications.
